F-1 visa students at Santa Barbara City College are automatically enrolled in the school-endorsed medical insurance plan when they register for their classes. This is a mandory insurance and cannot be waived.

- Fall 2024: August 11 - December 31 ($882.50)
- Spring 2025: January 1 - June 2 ($882.50)
- Summer 2025: June 3 - August 16 ($353)
Download your insurance card. You will receive an email from GEOBlue by the start of each semester with instructions to register your account, download the app, and access your insurance ID card.
If you need medical treatment before you have your ID card, contact the International Office.
Check out your insurance coverage online. It does not cover:
- Dental or vision care; except to repair injury or treat an illness up to $500 (subject to change each year)
- You may opt to "buy in" to an additional dental & vision plan.
- STD/STI tests & pregnancy tests - You can get free or low costs tests at Planned Parenthood clinics or check with the campus health & wellness center for additional options.
- Vaccinations - generally not covered
Student Health Services on campus. The Health Center offers some medical services, personal counseling, alcohol, drug, and tobacco treatment programs, and sexual health counseling. If the Health Center cannot treat you or is closed, you can go to one of the urgent care centers listed below, or search for a that accepts your insurance.

NOTE: Use of an urgent care center instead of a hospital emergency room may decrease your out-of-pocket expenses. Visit the Emergency Room if you are in a life-or-death situation. You may also refer to the student insurance website to search for an individual doctor.
How to file a medical bill claim. If you present your insurance card at a medical facility that is listed on the insurance website, your medical bill should be automatically paid for services covered by the plan.
Summer session Insurance. If you are enrolled in any class at SBCC during the summer, you will automatically be enrolled in the health insurance coverage. If you are NOT enrolled in any classes at SBCC during the summer, you should buy summer insurance coverage online in your insurance account if you will be in the U.S for all or part of summer. Click the enrollment link that says “ENROLL”. If you have questions, contact edueligibility@ahpcare.com.
Purchase Dental and Vision coverage separately. The international student insurance plan does not include coverage for dental or vision needs, but supplemental plans may be purchased online.
